The “Holodomor National Awareness Tour”, is a joint project between four organizations: the Canada Ukraine Foundation (CUF, the lead on the project), the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC), the Ukrainian Canadian Research and Documentation Centre (UCRDC) and the Holodomor Research and Educational Consortium (HREC).

With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Antony, His Grace Bishop Daniel, President of the Consistory of the UOC of the USA traveled to the capital of Ukraine in order to finalize the paperwork for prospective seminarians of St. Sophia Ukrainian Orthodox Theological Seminary, used the opportunity of being in Kyiv and visited the medical facilities of Ukrainian Armed Forces in Central and Eastern Ukraine.
"For over a year now, the faithful of the UOC of the USA gather in their parishes to hold prayer services for the suffering, wounded and deceased. Today, I visit these brave men with a profound sense of gratitude for their service and the ultimate sacrifice that so many of them have made. Today, I bring with me the prayerful well wishes of the clergy and the faithful not only of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, but also the clergy and faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox communities of Australia and New Zealand", commented bishop Daniel.
Over 200 wounded Ukrainian soldiers became recipients of over $200,000 since the beginning of war in Ukraine. This time around a number of soldiers and refugees of the local displaced persons camp, located at Logos Christian center under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Mykola Ilnytskyy, received financial help, provided by the clergy and faithful of the Church.

risu.org.ua - January 12 held a traditional New Year's meeting with Pope Francis heads of diplomatic missions of foreign states and international organizations accredited to the Vatican.
In this regard, the pontiff delivered a speech, which was dedicated to Vatican diplomatic activities, major international events of the past year and the challenges the international community is facing on the eve of 2015. During the speech, the Pope specially mentioned the situation in Ukraine, as reported by Ukraine’s Embassy to the Holy See (Vatican) website.
He said that “endless conflicts are, in fact, a true and real world war being waged partially throughout the world, and, first of all, in Ukraine, which is close to us, which became the dramatic theater of operations. I hope that through dialogue, the efforts to end the hostilities will be consolidated and that the parties concerned will follow the path of mutual trust and fraternal reconciliation to end the current crisisas soon as possible, in a spirit of respect for international law.”

risu.org.ua - On Christmastide the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church blessed and sanctified an ambulance car, warm clothes, blankets, food and self-made ovens for Ukrainian military. The convoy of trucks with aid to Eastern Ukraine sent from Ivano-Frankivsk archdiocese of the UGCC.
The Head of Church wished there were fewer injuries among our military, but in every case life-saving aid will be provided with this ambulancein any case. The patriarch said that a group of volunteers of the Maltese Aid Service with field cuisine is going to Mariupol in the trucks“to feed those who need food, and warm those who today might be suffering from cold, because the enemy has bombed their homes.”
“This is one of dozens trucks that were purchased with donations of our faithful,”" the patriarch said.
Father VolodyyrChornyy, Director of Caritas-Ivano-Frankivsk Charity Foundation, said that ambulances were provided withwound dressings. There are all necessary items to deliver first aid. “I wish that the Church was closer to the soldiers, so they remember that the Church not only prays for them, but provides assistance,” the priest said

CWN - Coptic Orthodox Patriarch Tawadros has expressed his distaste for the anti-Muslim cartoons published by the French satirical journal Charlie Hebdo.
“I refuse any form of personal insult,” said that Egyptian prelate; “and when the insult is related to religions, they cannot be approved neither at a human, nor at a moral and social level.” He said that new cartoons, printed in Charlie Hebdo after the massacre of staff members, remained "offensive."
