Maronite patriarch to gather Lebanon's Christian leaders

Beirut, Nov. 13, 2007 (CWNews.com) - Maronite Catholic Patriarch Nasrallah Pierre Sfeir plans to call a meeting of Lebanon’s Christian leaders, to discuss the country’s current political crisis, Vatican Radio reports.

Cardinal Sfeir is the most influential figure in the Christian community, which accounts for about 30% of the population of Lebanon. The Maronite Patriarch has been consistently pressed for recognition of the country’s national sovereignty.
